This workshop will teach you how to develop a website that will generate traffic and increase conversion, as well as how to best allocate time and money to develop a winning site. Internet Marketing is not magic. Search rankings don't happen overnight. You need to know search engine optimization, keyword analysis and the do's and don'ts of website structure to create a site that can be found by search engines. Learn what Google is looking for, how to look at your site like Google does, and how to analyze higher-ranking competitive sites. Use this information to develop an actual website. Move to the \"how to\" of pay-per-click advertising, email marketing, blogging and social networks. Class is not on HTML, Flash, Java Script, XML or other language. Presented in plain English, the focus is on the \"how to\" of structuring a site that results in excellent user experience and facilitates being found by search engines.

November 18: CEO, In-N-Out, Lynsi Martinez
On Tuesday, Nov 18th, 2008, we welcomed a "Mystery Guest Speaker" - the future CEO of In-N-Out, Lynsi Martinez. Her grandparents Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first In-N-Out restaurant back in 1948, and now today, the ownership position has been passed down to her. (She is the only heir of the company.) She shared many stories about the popular burger shop, and what it feels like to be in a very committed family and people oriented company. She was very kind and humble, and I think everyone present at the event enjoyed hearing stories from the woman that will be taking over one of the top fast food restaurants ever. At the end of the presentation, we opened up for Q&A and many students had the opportunity to ask questions, and get responses from the one who will be in charge of it all. Also, we raffled names and two lucky students won In-N-Out gift cards!
This was definitely a great event, and thank you to all who were able to come out!
Please continue to check our website for more information on up coming events!

October 28: Nam Hoang, Society of the Spectacle – Starting your own clothing company
On Tuesday, October 28, we welcomed a special guest speaker to our Entrepreneur Society event! At our event , "How to Start Your Own Clothing Company," Nam Hoang, founder of the brand, Society of the Spectacle, came in and presented us with a very thorough presentation, where he went through each step on how to get started in the fashion industry. He had some of his t-shirts up on the walls around the classroom, and laid out pins and brochures on a table up front. He gave all the members tips on things like, how to pick the fabric, how to make smart financial decisions, to how to get your products finalized and delivered. At the end of the presentation, we picked out names of two lucky winners who won free Society of the Spectacle t-shirts, and Nam happily took questions from many interested students.
Nam reported back to us, and said that we has been receiving emails from students that attended the event! We are glad to know that the event was a success, and had so many interested students!
We won't be holding events next Tuesday (Nov 4) because it is election day, but keep checking our website for more updates!!
